+ What do I do if I have a broken tooth?
Sometimes broken teeth can be painful but not always. Your dentist will assess the break and if necessary take an Xray. The dentist will then provide you with options to fix the tooth. Occasionally a broken tooth cannot be saved but each individual case is different.
+ What do I do if I need a filling?
Make an appointment. Dental fillings are to restore the tooth as naturally as possible following decay removal or tooth breakages. It is a painless procedure and local anaesthetic is usually given to patients.
+ What do I do if I have toothache?
Take your preferred method of pain relief sticking to the recommended doses. Call us as soon as possible. We always have emergency appointments available but please try to call in the morning to guarantee you an appointment.
+ What do I do if I have an abscess?
Swelling and abscess’s need urgent care. If you start to develop these symptoms outside of business hours, go to your nearest emergency room.
+ My crown has come off what shall I do?
Keep the crown in a safe place and make an appointment as soon as possible. Occasionally a crown can be re-cemented providing the underlying tooth structure is healthy and the crown still fits well.
+ How do I get straight teeth?
We do not provide orthodontic treatment in house. However, we will carry out an orthodontic assessment and refer you to a specialist orthodontist for suitable treatment if required.
+ How do I get whiter teeth?
Teeth Whitening is available here for suitable patients. It is very simple and there are options for take home whitening kits or to have the procedure completed in the dental chair. In-chair Whitening takes just 1 hour!
+ Why are my teeth yellow?
There can be many variations between individuals and sometimes this is just your normal healthy smile. There may be defects in the enamel or chalky teeth so let us take a look.
+ Why do I have bad breath?
There can many reasons for this, some include:
- Dry mouth
- Periodontal disease
- Tooth decay
If this is bothering you, make an appointment to discuss management, solutions and options.
+ Why do my gums bleed?
This could be an early sign of gum disease. It is best to have this assessed for a definite diagnosis.
+ I have diabetes. How will it affect my teeth?
Often patients with diabetes are far more prone to gum disease, regular dental checks are imperative.
+ What do I do if I have “chalky” teeth?
These teeth can sometimes be sensitive and also much weaker. It is best to have a regular maintenance program under way for such teeth.
+ What toothpaste do I use?
This is a personal choice. There are so many on the market to choose from, so we understand that it can be overwhelming. Feel free to talk to us and we can help select a suitable paste for you.
+ What mouthwash do I use?
This is also very personal choice. Be sure to ask at your next appointment so that we can help you select a mouthwash to suit your needs.
+ What do I do if My child is very anxious?
The team at Sunshine Dental Care Maroochydore are all trained on managing anxiety and work closely with an in-house psychologist. Quite often it’s just a case of spending some time at the practice for us to show you and your child what to expect.
+ My child has a blue lump above a missing tooth?
This may be an eruption cyst which generally will resolve and the tooth will come through. Please make an appointment to have this checked for a definite diagnosis.
+ Why is my child’s adult tooth coming through when the baby tooth is still present?
Quite often the baby teeth can still be present even when the new teeth are erupting. Usually teeth will be lost naturally but occasionally they need a little help by being extracted. This is usually very simple and easily tolerated by children.
